Compostable Packaging

Compostable Packaging

Available as a 240L and 1100L bin collection

Compostable packaging such as coffee cups, takeaway boxes and cutlery made from PLA, CPLA and NatureFlex don't belong in your Dry Mixed Recycling bin because they will contaminate the other materials and clog up the sorting machines. They also can't be disposed of with your Food Waste because food and compostable packaging use very different processes to decompose.

Coffee Grinds Condiment Sachets

Compostable packaging must be EN13432 certified. This proves the material decomposes completely in up to 180 days, leaving no toxics, residues or micro-plastics behind. These items of packaging are made of renewable resources and, once they break down, can be used as fertiliser, soil enrichment and compost.

All the compostable waste we collect is screened to reduce contamination. It is then sent to an In-Vessel Composting site where it is broken down into organic matter in around 6-7 weeks.
